This year, we are faced with very low tides for Sail Past in the earlier part of the day, and so we have postponed the event to later in the afternoon than has previously been the case.

For 2016, the KYC fleet will assemble at 2:30 pm for the Skippers’ meeting, held by our Fleet Captain, Chris Duncombe.

Detailed instructions for the Sailpast course and order of the fleet will be given at the Skippers’ Meeting.

Every effort will be made to sail in line-ahead formation, on a beam reach, with the order of the fleet arranged by faster vessels being grouped ahead of slower vessels.

Sailors may salute the Commodore’s vessel by luffing their jibs for five seconds, then sheeting in and clearing the area for the following boat.

Paddlers may salute by hand or with a nod.

When all boats have saluted and the Commodore’s vessel has weighed anchor, the fleet will return to the KYC dock, to enjoy tea and biscuits.

Note that there will be a flooding tide for the event, with a 1.5 foot low tide at 1:32 pm at Point Atkinson, and a 15.6 foot high tide at 8:41 pm.
