Everything You Always Wanted to Know about a Lightning (But Were Afraid to Ask)
For those that have never heard of them, Lightning's are sloop rigged sailing dinghies originally designed in 1938 with room in the cockpit for four to day-sail, or a crew of three when racing. Lightnings have been sailed on English Bay since before the fleet was founded in 1945. Today's Lightning is not your grandfather's Lightning and fleets are active around the world. Schedule of Events:
11AM to 1PM – Coffee in the Clubhouse with experienced Lightning sailors. Learn about Lightnings, the fun, the facts, the financials.
1PM to 4PM – Sailing! We aim to get everyone a chance to go for a ride!
4PM - Back to the clubhouse, the bar opens, review of the afternoon on the water, chat with sailors, ask questions, maybe win a prize...
5:30PM – BBQ – burgers and smokies, $10 per person. Stay and enjoy a pleasant social evening on the deck.
