Bluenose Regatta – November 2nd and 3rd, 2019
For the first year we are introducing all optimist championship classes.
The first Bluenose Regatta, sailed in 1988, was limited to Lasers, a small, one-person dinghy. The 2019 Bluenose Regatta is open to all one design dinghies and this year there may be as many as seven classes (Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7., 29er, 420, 505, Cal 20) plus an X-Class. Total entries could be 85+ boats!
With the regatta now open to multiple classes, sailors will have different levels of experience and there will be many junior sailors. There will be a catered dinner on the Saturday night with a casual, family friendly menu and lots of hot chocolate (with marshmallows) to warm everyone up!
The Bluenose Race Committee members and the KYC Executive take this opportunity to invite members to participate in the Regatta, if not as a sailor then please make yourself available to help in one of the many volunteer positions. Come join in the fun and provide a warm welcome to all the brave, chilly, and blue-nosed on-the-water volunteers and racers!
If you are not participating as a sailor, volunteer positions will be available. Please keep an eye on the Volunteering Info page on the website; or contact Colm Webb at the KYC office for volunteering opportunities.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Bluenose!
