KYC COVID-19 Stage 2 Update

June 19, 2020

Dear Members,

Washrooms are available for single person occupancy.  The main clubhouse, kitchen, dishes and supplies remain unavailable for use at this time.  You’ll see new COVID-19 Stage 2 signage and guidelines are posted.    Please take the time to read them when you come into the club grounds.  As a club, KYC expects members, guests and visitors to take personal responsibility to follow the general advice of the BC Provincial Health Officer for their well-being and that of other members.  Remember, parents are responsible for their children.

The basics we are all used to now still apply to members and their guests:

Do not enter KYC if you feel unwell or have any cold or flu-like symptoms.  Stay home and take the COVID-19 self-assessment online here: https://bc.thrive.health/  The link is also posted on the home page www.kitsilanoyachtclub.com

Do not enter KYC if you have traveled outside BC in the last 14 days.

Gatherings of no more than 6 people.

Guests:  For the purposes of contact tracing members must email manager@kitsilanoyachtclub.com with guest name(s) and date of visit.

Wash your hands: a wash station is available by the gate.

Maintain 2 metres social distancing at all times.

Only use the pier, float and ramp to get your boat into or out of the water.

The outside deck is available for family or personal social group use (max 6 people).  Bring your own picnic supplies.  The kitchen and supplies are not available for use.

You are encouraged to follow provincial public health guidelines while at sea.

Co-op single person vessels, including the lasers, are available for Co-op member use starting Sunday June 5.  KYC Sailng Bosun Zenon has notified Co-op members of details.

More casual, on water events are coming soon.

That’s it for now,

Outrigger canoeing is a sport in which an outrigger canoe (va'a, wa'a, waka ama in Tahitian, Hawaiian, similarly in Polynesian language) is propelled by means of paddles. Outrigger canoeing has grown from its roots in Polynesia to become a very popular paddling sport, with numerous sporting and social canoe clubs established around the world.
